MISSION STATEMENT

ArtSpark! believes that teaching art every day in the core curriculum is the single most powerful tool available to educators to motivate students, enhance learning, and develop higher-order thinking skills, especially for K-8 disadvantaged students. ArtSpark! provides 36 contact hours of arts instruction during the school day.

Lessons are twice a week for one hour. 32 programs are offered, each beginning with a 10-minute performance.

GOALS
  • Increase K-8 students’ skill, knowledge, positive attitude, and integration of arts across the curriculum for academic success


  • Provide arts-infused connections to all standards-based lessons using an interdisciplinary, multicultural arts approach to learning


  • Develop a rubric in collaboration with students to think critically about their own artwork and that of other artists


  • Increase students’ opportunities to experience and participate in multicultural arts and view high-caliber performances


  • Increase teachers’ and artists’ skill and knowledge in designing and using an art-infused curriculum
